Oilfields are large, land-based complexes where oil is pumped from underground to be sold to a variety of customers. They are interspersed all through the United States, although their prevalence has dropped in recent years as old patches have dried up and new ones have not been found to replace them. However, they still do exist, and low-skilled and unskilled oil workers can make good money on an oilfield, and better money if they transfer their skills to an offshore rig.

Oilfield Description

An oilfield requires a large number of workers, some with specialized skills and some without. The reason for this is because oil extraction is such a complex process. There needs to be highly-qualified engineers and geologists present to make high-level, broad-based decisions, but there also needs to be less-skilled, strong workers to make these decisions a reality.

What this means is that essentially, anyone can work on an oil field provided he is fit, strong and willing to work long hours. Unskilled oil workers can find themselves cleaning oil tanks, replacing pipes, and building basic infrastructure around the field.
